This is a play/support group for parents who have children with sensory issues, autism, aspergers, etc. I have found that it can be tough going through this as a parent and very confusing. I would love to meet other parents going through the same thing and give the kids a playgroup with buddies that are like them. This is a very laid back group, we do not judge or force any kind of advice on eachother, this is a place for comfort, play and new friendships.

The purpose of the group is to provide support for parents whose kids have multiple needs and many acronyms (PDD, ADHD, NVLD, SID, ASD, CAP disorders, etc.!) Parents like me, whose children need multiple therapies, appointments, school accommodations. It is exhausting, overwhelming, and way too isolating. Break out of your isolation and meet others who understand what it's like to live a life with a Spectrum kid, attend a meet up! I hope we can share resources and support, and have a little f …
This group is for fathers of children with Aspergers Syndrome (and PDD-NOS) to get together and share the unique experience of being a father of a child with AS, and to arrange recreational activities for the kids too. The reason this is designed for fathers specifically is that almost all of the support groups I have seen on this topic are for mothers, or are dominated by mothers. Parenting AS affects men in a unique way, and Aspie kids need male presence that meets their needs too.

Autism Is Medical “AIMs” to empower parents in their journey to recover their children. What is AIM? Autism is Medical is the creation of Jill Rubolino, Amanda Lochbaum and Jeanna Reed. Three moms brought together by the label "Autism" and its devastation. We began our journeys into the unknown a few years back and tried our best to navigate through all the damage. As we began to talk about our sick “autistic” children we soon realized each of them were truly trapped inside a body ravaged with …

While there are groups in the Chicago area for Adults with Asperger's and for Parents of Kids on the Autism Spectrum, I couldn't find a group focused on Parents of Kids with Asperger's. There is so much variance among kids on the Spectrum, that I thought it would be great to meet parents dealing with the specific issues raised by Asperger's. The purpose of the group is to create a community where parents of "Aspies" can support one another and exchange ideas and opinions on everything from schoo …

We have an environment where autistic children can expand their social contact, play a fun and challenging game that improves pattern recognition, social behavior, and logic and most of all there is no physical contact. Chess is highly structuralized and leaves no room for ambiguity. All of the above benefits in this type of meetup are exactly what autistic children prefer. This is the most effective and quickest way to get the maximum benefit of developing your child. Many autistic children and …

Is your partner extremely logical, literal and/or routine-based? Does s/he have engrossing hobbies and flashes of focused brilliance and insight, but difficulties navigating social situations? These are some of the most common expressions of Aspergers. Whether he/she is formally diagnosed with Asperger's or not, forming a partnership with an individual who displays these traits can be challenging for a non-Aspie (neurotypical) partner. I started this group because I was looking for support for p …

This is a play group for anyone who has a child with autism and a sibling who does not...there are so many kids who have autism or special needs and not enough support for parents who have other children who do not have special needs. My daughter is six and loves her brother but would love to spend time with other children as well. This play group would support everyone but would not have the judgement that seems to follow autism. This group is about fun and not negativity. Please join with open …
